PETE RISKI
(born 9th January 1974)
A quiet guy who was born and raised in the northern part of Finland. In the cold winters there was nothing else to do but watch telly and see every movie that played in the local theater. As a teenager he made lots of short VHS horror movies and music videos for local bands. A couple of years at art school led to directing commercials and music videos in Helsinki. He had his first retrospective in a music video festival at the age of 25. His music videos are something different from what you have been used to seeing. Commercials are combined with different visual looks and interesting stories. Music is always one of the key things in his work. A decade in the business and lots of different kinds of awards later he’s the same quiet northern guy as in the beginning.
DIRECTOR'S COMMENT
Dark Floors is a horror movie with a strong visual edge. We will create a dark world which is very far from daily realism. The style is a kind of mixture of grey comic-book world and stylish cinematic storytelling. This style supports our movie’s lead monsters – the members of the Lordi band. The situation is ideal because every band member is made for this kind of genre movie. Also the time could not be better for this; Lordi is very well known all over Europe and a lot of comic books are transferred to the silver screen these days.
