Purge and three other TrustNordisk films in Busan International Film Festival

The largest Film Festival in Asia, Busan International Film Festival, has selected four TrustNordisk titles for this year’s World Cinema Section.

Celebrating its international premiere in Busan is Antti Jokinen’s strong drama PURGE, which took both audience and critics by storm, when it premiered domestically in Finland last Friday. Starring some of the most respected Finnish talents, PURGE is an adaption for screen based by Sofi Oksanen’s novel PURGE, which has been translated into 40 languages as well as awarded internationally several times, winning among others the Nordic Council Literature Prize 2010 and the European Book Prize 2010. Producer is Markus Selin for Solar Films.

Also screening is Jan Troell’s bio-epic THE LAST SENTENCE, for which Troell just won the Best Director award in Montreal, World Film Festival, where the film world premiered. THE LAST SENTENCE marks Troell’s return to Busan, in 2008 he visited the city with his award-winning EVERLASTING MOMENTS. THE LAST SENTENCE will open domestically in December. Distributed by Enter Mode, Nikolaj Arcel’s A ROYAL AFFAIR travels to Korea after a year breaking international B.O. records, winning two Silver Bear for Best Script (Nikolaj Arcel, Rasmus Heisterberg) and Best Actor (Mikkel Boe Følsgaard) and receiving applause and praise from both critics and audience. A ROYAL AFFAIR is currently screening in Toronto International Film Festival, where it has been selected for the Gala section. Producers are Louise Vesth, Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Meta Louise Foldager for Zentropa.

Distributed by Korean Atnine Film, THE HUNT comes to Busan with exceptional credentials. The film marked Thomas Vinterberg’s return to the Cannes International Film Festival in May where it were praised by both audience and critics, was sold to a large number of territories worldwide and won the Best Actor Award (Mads Mikkelsen) as well as The Vulcain Prize of the Technical Artist and The Ecumenical Jury Award. THE HUNT is currently screening in Toronto International Film Festival, where it has been selected for the Special Presentations section. Producers are by Sisse Graum Jørgensen and Morten Kaufmann for Zentropa.

The 17th Busan International Film Festival takes place 4-13 October, while The Asian Film Market 2012, located at the Busan Exhibition Convention Center, will take place from 08-11 October.
